Your First Visit to Smile Brookline

What to expect on Beacon Street

Smile Brookline has cared for families at 1425 Beacon Street since 1992. Your first visit is a proper examination rather than a quick look, and it is scheduled with enough time that nothing is rushed. You will leave understanding exactly what we found and what, if anything, needs doing.

Which appointment you book depends on why you are coming. Most new patients start with the comprehensive exam. If sleep, breathing or jaw pain brought you here, a focused exam for that is the better use of the appointment, and our front desk will advise when you call.

Insurance and payment options explained to new patients at Smile Brookline Brookline MA

Insurance, Financing and Payment Options

Fee for service, claims submitted for you

Smile Brookline is a fee-for-service practice. We are not contracted to an insurance network, which means treatment recommendations follow what your mouth needs rather than what a plan will reimburse. We submit claims to all major commercial dental insurance carriers on your behalf, and most patients receive their usual out-of-network benefit.

For larger treatment, Cherry offers monthly payment plans you can apply for online at pay.withcherry.com/smilebrookline. We accept HSA and FSA funds for eligible treatment and all major credit cards. Where a case is substantial, it can often be staged across two benefit years, and we will raise that when the plan is written rather than after.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions for New Patients

Which appointment should I book first?
The $295 comprehensive exam suits most new patients. If your reason for coming is snoring, disturbed sleep or a child who does not sleep well, book the $195 sleep and airway exam. If it is jaw pain, clicking or grinding, book the $195 TMJ exam. Call and describe it and we will advise.
Do you take my insurance?
We are fee-for-service rather than in-network, so treatment is planned around clinical need. We submit claims to all major commercial dental carriers on your behalf and most patients receive their out-of-network benefit. We can check your specific coverage before treatment.
Why is the exam not free?
Because it is a diagnosis rather than a sales conversation. The comprehensive exam includes full-mouth X-rays, an oral health scan and an oral cancer screening. Free consultations are offered for Invisalign and Emface or Exion, where the appointment genuinely is a discussion of options.
How long will my first visit take?
Allow about an hour for a comprehensive exam. The sleep and airway exam and the TMJ exam are similar. If a cleaning is appropriate on the same day we will tell you when booking, though we often schedule it separately so neither appointment is rushed.
Do you see children?
Yes, and often alongside their parents. Dr. Sara Stock is a certified Vivos provider for children aged 3 to 12, and a child's visit here also functions as a growth and airway assessment. Child sleep studies are not offered at this practice.
What are your hours and where do I park?
We are at 1425 Beacon Street in Brookline. Monday 9:30am to 5:30pm, Tuesday to Thursday 8:00am to 6:00pm, Friday 8:00am to 5:40pm and Saturday 7:30am to 2:30pm. Call (617) 731-3364 and we will advise on current parking options nearby.
